In the morning, Griffin Darkholme looked like a mess.
It had been a very long night, if the dark bags under his eyes and the cup of empty coffee in his hands were anything to go by. Or if you paid attention to the scruffy mess of hair, in even worse condition than it normally was. Perhaps if you noticed the fact that he needed to shave more than normal, you would see that the past couple of days had been rough. His street clothes were grungy and seemed as if he had spent the entire night running around in the woods, smelling faintly of sweat and wet leaves. Even the way he walked was negative, slightly hunched over, with one hand wedged into his pockets. No matter what it was that you saw of him, it was obvious that something had been bothering the former Titan, and that things were not looking up.
He scowled slightly as he tossed the cup into a garbage can before seating himself on the edge of a dock. He dangled his legs off of the edge of the dock, resting his elbows on his knees and his head in his palms. It was too chilly out to take his shoes off, he knew, and it would have been a bad idea to fall in. Yet, Griffin felt that he would be able to keep his balance at least well enough not to spark that luck. His eyes slid closed for a moment as he sighed, remaining still for several moments.
"Stupid robbery," he muttered to himself. Ever since his home had gotten robbed, he had been out of the house much more frequently. He had gotten a police call the day before, claiming to have found his car. He had spent all night trying to track down the person who was last seen with his customized ride, and been unable to get it. Criminals were beginning to get intelligent, and even those without powers weren't always easy to manage for one person on his own. He was far from his apartment, he knew, but he needed a break. The docks at this time of year seemed as good a place as any for him to simply sit down and draw his woolen jacket closer around him and try to regain his energy.
He closed his eyes once more, leaning back and planting his palms on the wooden dock.
It was going to be a long day.

Why did it have to be so murky.
Emerald eyes gazed through the morning murk of the week at the dove floating next to her. The spirit had a lot to make up for, not the least of which was driving it home with the argument she had had with Spiritus, the dove would be paying for that for a long few months to come. Nothing was more certain in the mediums mind at the moment.
The smog of the city did make for a good sunrise though. That was a plus in an equation full of minus's they called life. She sighed and glanced at the dove again, her feathered friend had been working overtime to make up for that mistake. And hinted how Spiritus was a titan and how Mathew was currently being hunted by the FBI. The blond had thrown her out the window for that one.
She wasn't about to take the tail end of snide remarks when the person giving them was long dead. She tugged her knitted scarf around her neck and pulled her matching knit hat down by her ears. There was a reason that she had come to the docks this early in the morning. And she meant to keep her deal with herself. "Hey Griffin." she said moving to sit down next to the shape shifting ex-titan.
The dove sighed to herself. If only she could get the blond to talk to her this would feel slightly more normal. [/blockquote]

A smile flickered over his face for a moment, before vanishing. Had he downed another few cups of coffee, he probably would have been more energetic, and it probably would have remained. Was this girl everywhere? He guessed if he could see the future that he'd probably be out and about at other strange times, also. He turned his head to face her. "Morning, Serenity." Mentioning morning brought another wave of exhaustion over him, and he shook his head. He dug one of his palms into his closed eyes, as if that could wipe the sleep from them.
"What brings you out out here?" he asked after a moment, sounding slightly more optimistic. He wasn't sure if his reason would have needed explanation. After all, she had known about him before he had even met her. Surely she remembered his car had gotten hijacked. That thing was precious, and it had been quite heavy on his income to purchase.
Griffin frowned slightly. She didn't seem quite as upbeat as she had been the past few times he had seen her. "You okay? Or is it one of those days for you, too?" More like nights, he mentally corrected as he sat up straight, resting his hands in his lap. His evident grogginess faded slightly, taken over by other emotions at human contact's need for alertness. He crossed his ankles to help keep his balance better, the small frown still fixed in place. A crease appeared between his eyebrows, hinting at concern or worry. For being able to change his appearance at will, he sure gave away his emotions on his face.

Serenity's lips twitched up into a small smile before they returned back to a passive expression. "Well yeah you could say last night sucked as a whole but that's not why I'm here." she said and shrugged a shoulder making her long blond hair flow from the movement.
Sorina rolled her eyes and nestled herself on Griffins left shoulder hiding from the psychic sitting on his right side. If she discounted the fact that blondie was now giving a supervillain swimming lessons and had made enemies with a titan, AND she singlehandedly wanted to kill a dead spirit.
The dove had been doing a lot of hanging out at the graveyard recently.
Serenity glanced up at Griffin taking her eyes away from the horizon line. "Well I'm actually here to talk to you, funny how that turns out." she said a smile playing at her lips now but it didn't reach her glowering eyes. It had been a bad night for her and it showed in the slight narrowing of her emerald gaze.

He raised his eyebrows. "Me?" He glanced over, his angry aura softening slightly. "What's up?" He certainly didn't want to mess with her, he knew, but there was no harm asking. He didn't touch the subject of a bad night any further, knowing that was probably not going to go over too well. Plus, if she said it was bad, judging from the situations she got herself into, it probably rivaled his bad night. He curled his hands into loose fists and hugged his arms to his waist, a lame attempt to trap in more of the heat from his body. Mornings were not normally as warm as the rest of the daylight, and with dropping temperatures, it didn't help.
You would think he would have been used to the weather by now.
He couldn't see Sorina like the girl next to him could, but he had heard a few stories about Serenity and the bird. An almost-chilly feeling sunk slowly into his shoulder, virtually undetectable. He blinked slightly, but it didn't really phase him as any sort of real physical contact. He glanced down at the chilly water, shivering at the thought of losing his balance and falling in. That would probably result in hypothermia if he floundered around too long. If not, he'd still have to walk home with soaking wet clothes. He moved his hands to rub at his cheeks, taking them away to morph some more facial hair. It filled in within seconds, and his arms fell back to their previous state.
Griffin with a full-blown beard?
It certainly was practically winter, no matter what the exact first day was supposed to be.

Serenity sighed and glanced up at the sky. It always did the same things. Study the water and you could study the sky itself. It was that simple. Yet so beautiful to watch as well. It was always changing and flowing with not only the ebb and flow of the tide but also the rising and falling of the temperatures. Water still evaporated and fell to the ground forming snow as it fell. Crystallizing each in it's own different way. Creating it's own different individual snowflake. Each was beautiful yet different.
Serenity glanced sideways at Griffin, "Nice beard, you don't even want to know what the others are going to say." she joked lightly with a sigh trying to put aside her problems in favor of helping Griffin. This was not the Serenity Show, she would deal with the dove later, but this was more important now. "Your not going to fall in anytime soon you know." she said glancing into the future to make sure her statement was correct. [/blockquote]
